MAA State Championship Applications

Attached are the registration forms for the all the Championships shoot for the year. Please remember to include all the information requested on all of the applications, phone numbers, email addresses, style, class, division and score average are all important information that makes the tournament committee able to do most of the work prior to each tournament. The main delay of starting each state tournament is the lack of pertinent information on pre-registration forms and late registration in general. If possible, please pre-register even if it is to call the secretary, Betty Thiess, the day before the tournament.

Agenda items

1. Change the number of targets in the MAA State 3D Championship from 30 to 20. This would allow more time for archers to shoot both marked and unmarked events on the same day.     PASSED

2. Hold the MAA State Indoor Championship at multiple clubs in different regions using the same format as the NFAA Mid Atlantic shoots.   FAILED

3. Return the MAA State Indoors Championship to a two-day shoot with two scores either one shot on each day or two shots in one day (space allowing). PASSED

4. All NFAA Agenda items be distributed to the club presidents at least one month prior to the NFAA meeting and the results of that meeting are relayed back to the clubs within one month with the meeting minutes and or the results of the vote.            PASSED

NEW MAA RULES

New rules for the MAA state [NFAA] Indoor Championship 2009 edition: Shooters must shoot two rounds to qualify for state awards. One round on Saturday and one round on Sunday or two rounds on either day.

MAA state 3D Championship 2009. Both marked and unmarked will be held on the same day as in the past few years. This year there will be 20 targets instead of 30. This is to allow more time for those wishing to shoot both marked and unmarked events.

MAA Charity Shoot

The MAA Charity Shoot is at Eutaw Forest Archers on May 3, 2009.  The proceeds go to Camp Sunrise. Come shoot, bid on some items and have fun while helping children with cancer have a chance of being normal for a short time.  For donations for the auction and door prizes, please call Bob Sales 410-437-3046(cell).

MAA Annual Awards Banquet

The MAA banquet will be held at VNB this year. A vote was taken at the annual MAA fall meeting and we have decided to do something a little different this year.

We will print the time schedule in the next news letter and post details on the MAA web site. There will be a NFAA dot shoot early on the day of the banquet open to everyone that wants to shoot. We will then have a catered banquet. Door prizes, novelty shoots, wheels of chance and awards will be handed out after picnic. We hope this will increase participation and make this event more enjoyable for everyone.

Respectfully yours,

Betty Thiess, MAA Secretary
